All music shows reportedly not airing on the first week of May

Music shows are reportedly not airing on the first week of May. 

An exclusive report by Segye Ilbo states that all music shows are canceling on the first week of May due to the presidential election. 

KBS 'Music Bank and SBS 'Inkigayo', which is supposed to air on May 5 and 7, respectively, have already confirmed that they will not be airing. MBC 'Show! Music Core' is also reportedly planning to cancel airing, as well as MBC Music 'Show Champion' and Mnet 'M Countdown'.

4 out of 6 music shows will not be airing this week

SBS MTV 'The Show', MBC Music 'Show Champion', MBC 'Show! Music Core', and SBS 'Inkigayo' are not airing this week. 

Recently, 'The Show' announced their program won't be airing. It's assumed the program is taking time for reorganization following the departure of MCs EXID's Junghwa, Block B's P.O, and Momoland's Yeonwoo.

On September 11, 'Show Champion' announced via their official social media that a special episode featuring previous stages of EXO, Seventeen, Wanna One, GOT7, TWICE, NU'EST, and more will be airing on the 13th. Meanwhile, 'Show! Music Core' is taking a break due to the ongoing general strike against MBC.

Various Music Shows Cancel Broadcasts This Week In Observance Of Korean Holidays

Certain music programs will not be airing in observance of Buddhas birthday on May 3 and Childrens Day on May 5.

On May 2, MBC Musics Show Champion confirmed on their official homepage that their May 3 episode had been canceled. Instead, MBC Music K-Plus Concert in Hanoi is scheduled to air in its time slot.

Mnets M!Countdown will also be taking a break on May 4. The station plans to air a special highlighting the months upcoming K-pop festivals instead.

It looks like there wont be any music show performances to look forward to for the first week of May.

According to sources in the industry on April 17, all music shows are likely to be canceled for that week to make way for broadcasts related to the presidential elections.

It was already confirmed that KBSs Music Bank and SBSs Inkigayo will cancel their May 5 and May 7 broadcasts. MBCs Music Core is still in discussion for canceling.

This week alone saw the solo debuts of Minzy and Lee Haeri and comebacks from Bonusbaby, Berry Good, SF9, DIA, IU, Laboum, Jungiggo, Ulala Session and Yesung. Trophies were awarded to a variety of artists, with Eunji winning on Show Champion and The Show, TEEN TOP winning on Music Bank, and Winner getting top honors Inkigayo, M! Countdown, and Show! Music Core which recently brought back the award system again.
