On July 20, Black Pink successfully launched their debut showcase overseas at the prestigious venue Budokan in Tokyo, Japan.

YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk also attended the special event to cheer for his girls.  He even surprised fans by posting a short video clip via Instagram, illustrating the exciting atmosphere.

The footage revealed Black Pink opening with their debut song "BOOMBAYAH" as the audience exploded with loud cheers.

Budokan is a large arena holding more than 10,000 seats and is exclusively reserved for top artists to perform.  Not even a year into their debut, it was impressive that Black Pink was able to hold their debut showcase at this well-respected venue.

Quartet Black Pink to Debut in Japan

Quartet Black Pink will make its overseas debut in Japan, according to their agency YG Entertainment on Wednesday.

A showcase is scheduled at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on July 20, and the debut album will be released on Aug. 9.

Black Pink is one of the hottest new girl groups in K-pop. With less than a year since their debut in August last year, they have three music videos on YouTube that have over 100 million views.

All of their videos on their official channel on YouTube have been viewed more than 600 million times.

On July 20, Black Pink held their debut showcase at the prestigious venue Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. Before their showcase, the girls held a brief interview session with the media.

What is your state of mind now that you are about to perform for the first time in Japan?

As Black Pink has never performed in front of their fans, Jennie said, "This is the first opportunity for us to meet our fans in Japan like this. We haven't done this even in Korea, so being able to do this at this big venue, I'm nervous already for the rehearsal."

Just weeks before their official Japanese debut, Black Pink's popularity can be seen on the streets of Japan.

According to YG Entertainment on August 15, Black Pink recently collaborated with popular magazine 'NYLON JAPAN' and fashion brand 'SHEL'TTER', celebrating the brand's 10th anniversary.

NYLON JAPAN's September issue had four special versions featuring Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, and Lisa on the covers.  The special September issue is said to be a limited edition, which all sold out in just three days after the release.

The girls had reached 50 million on the MV just two months after debut, then 100 million 6 months after debut, and now the girls are at 150 million a mere 10 months since their debut. The girls also have long passed 1 million likes on the MV.
