China Eases up on THAAD Boycott of Korea

China appears to be easing up on a wide-ranging unofficial boycott of Korean goods and service over the stationing of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense battery from the U.S. here.

The state-run People's Daily, a bellwether of official opinion, repeatedly referred to Korea as a "close neighbor" recently after a telephone call between President Moon Jae-in, who is skeptical about the deployment, and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on May 11.

This was closely followed by the dispatch of a special envoy to Beijing, former prime minister Lee Hae-chan, last week.

Korean Stars Commemorate Memorial Day

June 6 is South Koreas Memorial Day. The day commemorates the men and women who died while in military service during the Korean War. Since 1956, a memorial ceremony is held at the National Cemetery in Seoul and South Korean flags are flown at half-mast.

Korean stars have taken to social media to commemorate the the day as well. Most stars posted photos of the South Korean flag and some even drew flags themselves.

Pom Klementieff from "Guardians of Galaxy VOL.2", Steven Yeun from "Okja" and Ki Hong Lee from "Wish Upon" are some of them.

Pom Klementieff from "Guardians of Galaxy VOL.2" is a Korean-French actress.

She starred in the American remake of "Old Boy" and became well-known in Korea. In "Guardians of Galaxy VOL.2", she starred as Mantis, a character with special powers to read one's mind.

She has also been cast for the upcoming "The Avengers: Infinity War".

Korean Stars Celebrate National Liberation Day

August 15 is Koreas National Liberation Day and celebrates Koreas liberation from Japanese occupation. This year marks the 72nd anniversary of the national holiday.

Song Hye Kyo worked with Professor Seo Kyung Deok to publish a Korean history travel guidebook for Kyoto in honor of the holiday. Many stars posted photos of the Korean flag to commemorate the meaningful day.
