The co-ed groups third project Rumor was released on April 24 and by the morning of April 25, it had come in at first place on the iTunes K-pop Charts in the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, El Salvador, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, and Bolivia.

Their mini album GIRLS was officially released on May 24, and sold a noteworthy 26,541 physical copies in just the first day alone, and placed them second on Oricons daily album chart. It continued to be second place on on the daily album chart for May 25, with 22,248 copies sold.

In addition to title track Ka-CHING!, the album includes a Japanese version of their Korean debut title Hey Mama, and five entirely new songs that showcase EXO-CBXs own color. The Japanese media reported, A slight contrast to EXOs unique sound, [EXO-CBXs] diversified pop sound is well-loved.
