Filmmaker Kim Tae-yong to Tackle Traditional Music

Film director Kim Tae-yong will take on a new challenge, directing a Korean traditional music performance.

Kim will direct a musical titled "Kkokdu", which is intended for foreign audiences, that will run at the National Gugak Center in Seoul from Oct. 4 to 22. It targets visitors ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Kkokdu means a wooden marionette used for decorating a bier.

"It will be a musical that combines dance, singing, and Korean traditional music", said a staffer at the center.

Highlights Yong Jun Hyung recently participated in a pictorial for GQ Magazine and discussed everything from reaching a limit with song inspiration to why he doesnt listen to music often in the accompanying interview.

The artist talked about how he has always been the type to keep things to himself and how he now expresses his feelings, thoughts, and frustrations through his music. Yong Jun Hyung also talked about how lyrics were the most important part of his song making process and said, I cant move forward with a new song if the topic and story are undecided. Even if the melody for the song is good, if the lyrics dont flow well, the song cant be good in my opinion.

Former Produce 101 Season 2 contestants Woo Jin Young and Jo Yong Geun held a V Live broadcast on June 8.

During the broadcast, Jo Yong Geun reflected on the first few days of filming Produce 101 Season 2, saying, I was really nervous, excited, and worried so I wasnt really able to adapt [to the environment].

There was so much pressure, but I learned a lot [on the show]. It was really fun. [In the first two episodes], however, when all the trainees had to perform by agency, I was sad that our performance got edited out. We performed BLACKPINKs Whistle, but it didnt get aired, said Woo Jin Young.

G-Dragon Hits Back At Gaon Chart For 'Kwon Ji Yong' USB Issue, Says Company Is Missing The Point Of Making Music

Amid the debate on whether G-Dragon's massively successful "Kwon Ji Yong" should be counted an an album even though it was released in USB form, the BIGBANG leader used his Instagram to speak up about the issue in a very personal message. He also took a dig at Gaon Chart for refusing to accept his album as a legitimate release and questioned the basis on which the company made its judgement.

In his post, G-Dragon questioned how people whom he doesn't even know were able to easily judge what counts as an album. While he did not directly name Gaon Chart on his post, he said that the company was missing the essence of creating and releasing music. He said that the packaging and form is a moot point that people need to get over.
