“Helios” Opens in Singapore on April 30, Preview Tickets Giveaway

“Helios” Opens in Singapore on April 30, Preview Tickets Giveaway

Hello Singapore Soompiers!

The Chinese movie “Helios” featuring Ji Jin Hee and Super JuniorChoi Siwon will be coming to a theater near you from April 30, the same day it premiers in China!

Synopsis: Number one wanted criminal Helios (Chang Chen) and his assistant (Janice Man) stole a quantity of uranium and plan to produce weapons of mass destruction. They are planning to trade with a terrorist organization in Hong Kong. Chief Inspector Lee Yin Ming (Nick Cheung) and Inspector Fan Ka Ming (Shawn Yue) lead the Counter Terrorism Response Unit of the Hong Kong Police Force. Along with Chinese senior official Song An (Wang Xueqi), Physics professor Siu Chi Yan (Jacky Cheung) and two South Korean weapon experts Choi Min Ho (Ji Jin Hee) and Pok Yu Chit (Choi Siwon), they hope to defuse a crisis sufficient to destroy the world.

Since appearing in Perhaps, Love in 2005, Ji Jin Hee stars for the second time in a Hong Kong movie. Ji Jin Hee admitted that Hong Kong means a lot to him, and that playing his role was challenging. “In the past, I was usually cast as the gentle, caring man, but my character this time is tough, which fits my past impression of Hong Kong movies. This second collaboration with Jacky Cheung was filled with surprises, and I look forward to working together with such brilliant actors again.

On working with the directors, Ji Jin Hee said, “I had once thought that there would be no more serious Hong Kong-style criminal thrillers, but the directors’ previous film Cold War is exactly that, harking back to Hong Kong movies golden era. Helios not only gathers actors from across the regions, the story also holds you captive from the get go. I am very excited.”

Popular idol group Super Juniors member Choi Siwon performs many dangerous stunts in Helios. His high-speed motorcycle chase in Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui is the highlight of the movie. He is thrilled to be part of a Hong Kong-style action production. “The shooting was very fun because of Jacky Cheung, who made shooting seem like a musical concert every day. I really look forward to Helios.

Ode To My Father Opens in Singapore on Apr 16, Preview Tickets Giveaway

Ode To My Father Opens in Singapore on Apr 16, Preview Tickets Giveaway

Hello Singapore Soompiers!

The latest movie “Ode To My Father” which was the second most-viewed film in Korea last year will be coming to a theater near you starting April 16! Check out the synopsis below.

In December 1950, Hungnam Port is crowded with refugees of the Korean War. Amid the chaos, 12-year-old Duk Soo (Hwang Jung Min) sees his fate change in the blink of an eye when his hand slips and he loses track of his youngest sister, of whom he promised to never let go. Leaving behind his father who stayed to search for her, Duk Soo and other family members make their escape to Busan and settle down in its bustling Gukje Market, waiting for the rest of the family to come.

Taking responsibility for his aging mother and young siblings, Duk Soo starts working odd jobs and devotes himself entirely to his family. To earn his little brother’s college tuition, Duk Soo goes to Germany as a coal miner and barely escapes alive. However, it is there that he meets Young Ja (Kim Yun Jin), a fellow immigrant worker and his first love, who eventually becomes his lifelong companion.

After enduring all the hardships in Germany, Duk Soo returns to Busan and begins to pursue his dream of becoming a naval captain; but fate intervenes once again and he is left with no choice but to head to war-torn Vietnam to cover his sister’s wedding expenses. Upon his return, Duk Soo sets out on a final mission in the hopes of finding his father and youngest sister, who went missing in Hungnam over 30 years ago.

Ode To My Father is a powerful generational epic that depicts the fierce and intense era of our fathers’ generation through the stories of one mans lifetime.

This is a story that, from my first days of directing films, I have vowed to make. I’ve always felt sorry towards my father, who throughout that era of poverty and struggle always lived not for himself, but for his family. This is a film made to say thank you to all of our fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers. I hope that audiences understand this truth about why Ode To My Father was made. The film begins as a personal story, but from the perspective of parents and children, it’s the story of all of us. I hope that this depiction of our parents’ generation, who fiercely survived their era, can inspire all of us to look again upon our lives in a new light, says the films Director JK Youn (Yoon Je Kyoon) in a statement.

In Su (Kang Ha Neul) has the special power to see ghosts but he became a loner ever since he left his hometown after he saw the ghost of his dead childhood friend. MBC Korean Music Wave In Singapore 2013 Cancelled 10 Days Before Scheduled Date Over Contract Dispute

MBC Korean Music Wave In Singapore 2013 Cancelled 10 Days Before Scheduled Date Over Contract Dispute

MBC, EXO, 4minute

MBC Korean Music Wave In Singapore 2013 Cancelled 10 Days Before Scheduled Date Over Contract Dispute On Tuesday, promoter Fatfish Entertainment explained the decision to cancel what had been billed as Singapores largest-ever K-pop concert. Less than two weeks before it's Nov. 16 scheduled date, the event producers of the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Korean Music Wave in Singapore 2013 have pulled the plug on the three-hour concert, which would have featured an A-list lineup of performers like EXO, Sistar and 4Minute.

In a statement posted to the company's Facebook page on Tuesday, concert promoter Fatfish Entertainment explained the decision to cancel what had been billed as Singapore's largest-ever K-pop concert, according to the publication Today.

"We regret to announce that the MBC Korean Music Wave in Singapore 2013 has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances including contractual difficulties with our co-producer MBC," the Fatfish statement read.

"This is an unexpected turn of events and we are ascertaining how this cancellation will affect our financial position. We are currently seeking professional advice to see how we can best refund our ticket holders and other creditors. We will need some time for this and seek your patience and understanding during this difficult time."

The decision comes one week after the company reportedly posted another statement to the social networking site, asking fans to help fund other aspects of the performance like the artists' transportation and food in addition to the ticket price.

That Facebook post has since been deleted.

Wang Li Na, head of consumer marketing for would-be MBC Korean Music Wave In Singapore 2013 sponsor StarHub, claims she is unsure exactly what led to the move to axe the concert.

"We were very disappointed to learn this evening, from the concert promoter, Fatfish Entertainment, that the MBC Korean Music Wave concert has been cancelled," Wang said. "We are currently in talks with them to find out more."

K-pop fan Mira Jamil can't believe the incompetence.

"It's so unprofessional of you to announce at such a short notice when the event is just 10 days away," Jamil wrote on Starfish Entertainment's Facebook page.

"Ticket prices were unreasonably sky high, which caused you guys to have poor sales."

Ticket prices for the concert, which was slated to take place at Singapore's Gardens By The Bay, ranged from $140 to $550.

Other acts on the MBC Korean Music Wave In Singapore 2013 bill included the groups SHINee, 2PM, 2AM, F.T. Island, B1A4, Teen Top, B.A.P, Kara and Miss A and solo singer IU.

Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun of Girls' Generation were scheduled to host the event.
