Kim Tae Min had abruptly departed from the show on May 19 after being hospitalized for abdominal pain. He ended up having to undergo surgery for enterostenosis.

He reappeared in the finale episode, which aired on June 16, and apologized for the sudden leave that left many fans worried. He said, For the past 100 days, I received so much love and had the opportunity to reflect on myself. So I am very sorry because I am not able to repay all that love to my fans.

Chinese video siteIQIYIfirst broadcasted the show in November of 2016 up until January of 2017. The show description was about, "65 contestants participating in a competition to become the final 8 of a group set to debut afterwards."

FNC Entertainment trainee Yoo Hoe Seung has uploaded a cover version of the Produce 101 Season 2 concept challenge song he didn’t get to perform!

Yoo Hoe Seung had practiced hard to perform the original track Show Time with a group of other trainees as part of the concept challenge when he was a contestant on the show. However, he was unfortunately eliminated (along with 25 other trainees) before the concept challenge performances were staged, as he came in at No. 39 when only the top 35 were able to remain.

FNC Entertainment uploaded a video of the trainee, who had been eliminated at #39 during the second elimination, covering his original concept evaluation song. Yoo Hoe Seung had been put into the "Show Time" team as a main vocal and had been highly praised by the trainers, but ultimately could not participate in the song.
