[Hot Takes from the Noonas] Cha Seung-won announces drama comeback

At a Tokyo fan meeting on April 22nd, Cha Seung-won announced that he would be returning to the small screen in a romantic comedy set to air in late 2017.

While he didn't add any further details, media outlets are reporting that Cha Seung-won will be starring in the latest romcom from the Hong sisters, Hong Jeong-eun and Hong Mi-ran, writers of his last romantic comedy outing, 2014's "The Greatest Love". The Hong sisters' record has been rocky since then; the uneven "Big" was followed by the entertaining "Master's Sun", while "Warm and Cozy" coasted on its side characters. Hopefully, this one will be a return to form for the Hong sisters, with a strong story grounding their usual comedic antics.

'Housewife Detective' Cancellation: 2PM's Chansung Confirmed For New Projects As Budget Issues, Delays Plague Jang Nara's New Drama

Jang Nara and 2PM's Chansung have both signed on to star in the romantic comedy "Housewife Detective" which was expected to replace MBC's "Ruler of the Mask". However, fresh reports now hint that the drama has become stuck in pre-production with no news of resumption, leading sources to believe that the project is pretty much dead in the water.

According to a report by Drama Beans, Mstar Media, the production outfit in charge pf the drama, has reportedly declared bankruptcy last April 19 but even before the announcement, "Housewife Detective" has stopped production as early as February. The project had high hopes in the beginning as a pre produced series which will air simultaneously in Korea and other countries in the second half of 2017.

[Hot Takes from the Noonas] Oh Yeon-seo jumps on Joo Won in first teaser for "My Sassy Girl - Drama"

The first teaser for "My Sassy Girl - Drama" features Joo Won showing off his martial arts skills, and contending with a drunk, out-of-control Oh Yeon-seo.

Recasting "My Sassy Girl" as a sageuk is seeming less and less like a terrible idea with the release of the first teaser. The original story of a hapless college student who is suddenly beset by a pretty, but crazy woman has somehow morphed into a court intrigue, with the Girl becoming the Princess Hyemyeong (Oh Yeon-seo) and Gyeon-woo (Joo Won) becoming a scholar who is supposed to tutor the Crown Prince.
