Park Bo Young Reveals Which Embarrassing Line From Strong Woman Do Bong Soon She Changed On Set

In an interview on April 18, Park Bo Young talked about why she thought Strong Woman Do Bong Soon was as popular as it was and revealed which line from the script she changed on set.

The actress said, For me, the script is the most important part when choosing a new project. The script [for Strong Woman Do Bong Soon] was fun and [Do Bong Soon] was a type of character that I wanted to take on; however, there were some difficulties at first because the environment at the time was not conducive to me taking on this project. There were many things that I wanted to do but only so many things that I could. At the time, I wondered if I was still too lacking to take on the role.

Strong Woman Do Bong-soon Ep.13-16: Glimpses of What Couldve Been

After weeks of misguided comedy, meandering plot lines, and a misplaced prioritising of tone over characterisation, its finally a wrap for Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. This last quarter, especially the final episode, rights a few of its many wrongs. Perhaps its better late than never, but at the same time, its a sad reminder of how great the drama could have been if only it had remembered to focus on its heroine, her growth, and her relationships with the people around her.

This review contains spoilers for Episodes 13-16.

For the first time, Cheon-il uses his tracksuit for its intended purpose- as workout clothes, in anticipation of the big company athletic competition which he ends up taking far, far too aggressively. I was a little disappointed that Cheon-il's training montage is just general athletics. It would have made for a much funnier overall joke if Cheon-il had been taking mixed martial arts lessons and his performance on the field was a result of his mis-applying those skills in the wrong context.

Elsewhere, Ik-hee starts taking private tutoring lessons on the behest of her mother, which predictably backfires since Ik-hee made very clear her desire to continue going to a private classroom rather than take prviate lessons. This story was noteworthy to me mainly because the tutor is played by Park Jin-joo, an actress I rather like even though she has trouble getting anything better than third tier roles. Still, Ik-hee's rude albeit reasonable question about employment prospects was fairly funny.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon consistently had strong ratings throughout its entire run and rewrote JTBC history by becoming the networks most watched drama of all time.
