The rumors are true! MNET recently hinted information about launching a new idol survival program with JYP Entertainment which would result in a new boy group! Now JYP has confirmed and spoken about the matter.

An official statement was released on August 3r stating. "JYP and Mnet will be joining hands to start a new survival program for a male idol group. It will have a completely different personality compared to the second season of 'Sixteen' that was prematurely 'revealed', and is designed to create a male group."

According to reports on June 20, the upcoming male trainee survival program YG Entertainment will be launching will take on a 'YG-Style Produce 101' format.

A rep from the label said, "YG will launch a variety of programs beginning this fall. Han Dong Chul PD, who produced 'Show Me The Money' will work on a new survival program... it will be the first time YG will be joining hands with outside labels, and YG will be hand-picking members from participating, unknown rookie groups, to form a brand new group."

It seems that YG Entertainment has a whole lot in store for the near future.

On June 20, a representative from YG Entertainment stated, PD Han Dong Chul, who has produced programs like Produce 101 and Show Me The Money, will be working with YG Entertainment to create a brand new audition program.

YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk, who has served as a judge on K-Pop Star since its first season back in 2011, will be directly participating in the production of the new show. Furthermore, there is a good possibility that other YG Entertainment artists may appear as judges on the program.

A Chinese contents platform, that has been accused of plagiarizing Mnets Produce 101, has announced they will be producing the show Idol Evolution (literal translation). This is not the first time there has been accusations of plagiarizing the show, as netizens have previously compared a different Chinese audition show with Produce 101.

Idol Evolution is a survival program featuring 111 trainees, and aims to create the best male idol group. The main difference between the two programs is that the Chinese program has 111 trainees while Produce 101 had 101. The platforms Weibo account is accepting applications for contestants and plans to broadcast the show next January. Not only are the program teasers also similar, the Chinese program also has a very similar logo to the Korean one, with a blue triangle image.

Chinese audition program 'Birth of a Star' is under fire for blatantly plagiarizing South Korean competition series 'Produce 101'.

'Birth of a Star' was broadcasted on Chinese video site IQIYIfrom November of 2016 to January of 2017. A total of 65 contestants participated in the competition to become the final 8 of thedebut group.The concept is greatly similar to 'Produce 101', where 101 trainees compete to become the final 11 debut members. In addition to the general concept, 'Birth of a Star' blatantly plagiarized the small segments within the show.
