K-Pop Beyond The Charts: Let Loptimist Rearrange Your Circuitry On 'Me' Featuring Kim And Ji Jong Hwan AUDIO

Loptimist album canopy for Loptimists futuristic new single Me featuring Ji Jong Hwan And Kim K-Pop Beyond The Charts is a weekly review column highlighting Korea's trendy day musical innovators who haven't begunto discover mainstream success.

"It's 2016! Why do notwe've gotgenuine hoverboards like the ones in 'Back To The Long runSection II,' flying vehicles like The Jetsons did or laser blasters like the ones in 'Star Wars?'"

It's a not unusual complaint lodged by skill ofany personsufficiently oldto endure in mind a time when the destinygave the glance of an drawing nearteachwearing a bounty of cutting edge technology. And even ifNet memes and the libertyto observetvto yourtelephone from anyplace in the known internationalwon'televatefairlythe similarallure equally zipping over the town in a computer-operated jetpack, futurists can take solace in the truth that there are musical advancements being made globally which are befitting the 21st century.

Case in point is "Me," the hot unmarried released Thursday by South Korean singer and rapper Loptimist and featuring the talented Ji Jong Hwan and Kim. Comprised by what seems to be entirely digitally generated sounds, "Me" may justnearly pass for a communication between two robots if it were not for rapping this is as uncooked and human as it gets.

That being said, even the vocal hook is divided up and heavily processed, together with a striking quantity of twists and turns in the sound and arrangement, making the music a formidablebounce into the future.

Hip-hop, in particular in its previous incarnations, steadily had a culture of cutting up tracks and vocals that was once carried on by many of its seminal manufacturers from J Dilla to chop Chemist to Kanye West. Yetthe style Loptimist slices and dices the tracks on "Me" whilst superimposing synths is directly out of science fiction. The drum programming is a triumph.

The additional into this new millennium we go, the more that the term "futuristic" turns out to lose its meaning. But something is for sure, when you had heard "Me" in an 1980s film about the year 2020, it should exist a highly plausible bit of motion picture magic.

Kim Jaejoong, Kang Ji Hwan, and Lee Jong Suk Go on Monday-Tuesday Drama Ratings War Starting Next Week

Kim Jaejoong, Kang Ji Hwan, and Lee Jong Suk Go on Monday-Tuesday Drama Ratings War Starting Next Week

Kim Jaejoong, Kang Ji Hwan, and Lee Jong Suk Go on Monday-Tuesday Drama Ratings War Starting Next Week With only one more episodes left to air, “Empress Ki” is almost finished and the quest is now on to find who will be the righteous heir to Ha Ji Won‘s Monday-Tuesday drama throne.

While there are many factors that can contribute to the success of a drama such as a solid and highly captivating story line as well as the actors’ skills, it is the viewers who can really make or break the deal.

Starting next week, May 5, MBC will try to keep its reign of the time slot following “Empress Ki” with “Triangle,” while SBS will play its cards with “Doctor Stranger.” KBS, on the other hand, started earlier in the game with “Big Man” which started airing this week, the same night as the first of the two final episodes of “Empress Ki.”

Returning to the small screen after a year since Incarnation of Money is Kang Ji Hwan. In “Big Man,” he is Kim Ji Hyuk, a poor guy who suddenly becomes an eldest son of a chaebol group and eventually discovers the ugly truth behind it. Through the stories that will unfold in the series, viewers will see the process of becoming a true leader needed by this generation. Kang Ji Hwan’s portrayal of a man who wanders in the slums and turns over a new leaf as the best ‘big man’ is highly anticipated.

Meanwhile, at an advantage is “Triangle,” as it will take over the spot that was left by Ha Ji Won’s well-received drama. “Triangle” is a melodrama about three brothers who were separated from their parents and each other and would cross paths once again. Lee Bum Soo plays the role of Jang Dong-chul, the oldest of the three brothers and a detective. Kim Jaejoong plays the role of Jang Dong Chul/Heo Young Dal, the second brother, who grows up having a rough life and ends up becoming a gang leader. The youngest brother who got adopted into a rich family, Jang Dong Woo/Yoon Yang Ha, is played by Im Siwan.

Kim Jaejoong, who is often seen playing handsome characters in his previous projects, will rough it up this time around, much to the anticipation of his fans. His and his co-stars Lee Bum Soo’s and Lim Si Wan’s transformation for the roles they will play gained a lot of attention right from the release of their drama teaser.

Kang Ji Hwan V. Kim Jaejoong V. Lee Jong Suk

Kang Ji Hwan V. Kim Jaejoong V. Lee Jong Suk

Kang Ji Hwan V. Kim Jaejoong V. Lee Jong Suk Kang Ji Hwan V. Kim Jaejoong V. Lee Jong Suk Kang Ji Hwan V. Kim Jaejoong V. Lee Jong Suk

In the next two weeks there"s a whole new lineup of dramas to compete for first place in the ratings battle and to court the hearts of k-drama fans.

And often it"s not about which drama will come in first but rather a question of which star will capture the fancy of the viewing public.

The first to start is "Big Man," starring Kang Ji Hwan, Daniel Choi, Lee Da Hee and Jung So Min. All of these stars have been in first-rate dramas. Kang Ji Hwan played Yoon Eun Hye"s love interest in "Lie To Me." Daniel Choi was last seen in "School 2013." Lee Da hee was in "I Hear Your Voice" and "Secrets" last year. Jung So Min appeared in "Playful Kiss."

In this revenge drama, Kang Ji Hwan plays the lead role. He"s Kim Ji Hyuk, a poor orphan who makes it on his own only to discover he"s the secret son of a rich family. But that too is a lie and he sets out on a path for revenge. "Big Man" begins April 28.

"Triangle" beginning on May 5 stars Lee Bum Soo, Kim Jaejoong and Im Siwan. Lee Bum Soo was last seen in "The Prime Minister and I." JYJ"s Kim Jaejoong was last seen in "Time Slip Dr. Jin" and ZE:A"s Im Siwan was last seen in "Expecting Romance."

None of those dramas earned great ratings but Kim Jaejoong has a loyal JYJ following and his tough new look in this drama may excite interest.

Kim Jaejoong gets first billing in this drama about three brothers separated when they were young. He plays Jang Dong Chul, who grew up on the streets and is now the boss of a crime syndicate.

Lee Jong Suk headlines the last competing drama "Dr. Stranger," beginning May 5. He plays Park Hoon, the defector genius doctor from North Korea. Lee Jong Suk starred in last year"s big hit "I Hear Your Voice" along with Lee Bo Young. "Dr. Stranger" also stars Park Hae Jin who became popular through the drama "You Who Came From The Stars," Jin Se Yeon, who appeared in "Inspiring Generation" and Kang So Ra, who appeared in "Ugly Alert."

So, it may not be a toss up between a revenge drama, a medical drama or a family drama, but rather a contest between those three stars.

Which drama will you be watching? And which star are you looking forward to seeing? Let us know.
