On September 8, his agency Prain TPC stated, After hearing that an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 had hit Mexico, we checked with Lee Joon and got told that he and the staff members are safe.

The staff members and I felt the earthquake, but we all evacuated to a safe area. Its quite scary that the magnitude was at 8.0, but the people at the hotel protected us, so were okay now! Please pray for everyone in Mexico right now.

The idol-turned-actor arrived in Mexico on September 6 in order to prepare for his Mexico fan meeting, scheduled for September 8. The earthquake struck on the evening of September 7, and afterward, fans flocked to Lee Joon's SNS, worried for his safety.

Lee Joon told fans, "This is Mexico. I'm writing because many people seem worried. After feeling the earthquake, the staff members and I all evacuated, and we are now safe and secure. The number 8.0 is a little scary, but because the hotel staff protected us well, we are now okay! Please pray for the safety of everyone in Mexico."

The label stated, "A day prior to the fan meeting, a high magnitude earthquake occurred and worried us, but after discussing the situation with the promotor and security staff in Mexico, we were able to carry out the fan meeting by changing the agenda completely in the direction of putting safety first. The fan meeting wrapped up successfully under the close watch and precautionary measures of the Mexico staff, with no damages. The event took place for approximately an hour and a half with the fans' loud cheers."
