Through a recent interview after the end of his drama Father Is Strange, Lee Joon shared why he isnt afraid of the long hiatus he will have to take because of his upcoming military enlistment and service.

The actor said, My friends told me I would have a hard time [in the military] but [almost] every Korean male has to go through this experience, which makes me wonder if it really matters whether someone has a more or less difficult time than anyone else. That being said, I am sorry to the other soldiers who will be in the same barracks as me, as I will be older than most of them. Lately, Ive been wondering how I can be more approachable for them.

Lee Joon, who personally announced to fans via SNS that he would be enlisting in the military this coming October 24, said, "I actually have friends who have already finished up basic training. They tease me, saying, 'It's really hard.' But for me, if I go, then I go. Any Korean citizen goes through it. The only thing is that the people I will be will be younger than me, so I'm nervous about if I'll be able to get along with them. I'm not worried about anything else."

On May 30, media outlets reported the "Cherry Blossom Ending" singer had quietly enlisted at a training camp in Gyeonggi Province on the 15th. Though he informed his family, Jang Bum Joon did not make any other official announcements, leading fans to find out 2 weeks after he had already started training.

After 5 weeks of basic training, he'll be serving as a full-time reserve soldier for 21 months.
