Actor Lee Min-ho will start his mandatory military service at the Gangnam District Office next month, his management agency MYM Entertainment said Wednesday.

He will start working behind a desk on May 12 before going through four weeks of basic combat training at some point.

Singer Park Yoo-chun is serving his military duties in the same cushy job in Korea's glitziest district.

Lee is excused more strenuous duties because he sustained serious injuries to his thigh and ankle in a 2006 car accident and was involved in another serious crash during filming of the 2011 TV series "City Hunter".

Lee Min Ho has finally released his enlistment date for the military after months of waiting. His agency MYM Entertainment, confirmed that the Legend of the Blue Sea actor will be enlisting for mandatory service on May 12.

"The enlistment date for Lee Min Ho was confirmed today," Lee Min Ho's agency, MYM Entertainement said. "It is true that he will be starting his military service on May 12 in Gangnam as a social service worker."

According to Koreboo, unlike other enlisted celebrities, he will not be reporting for military training right away because of injuries he sustained from a car accident in 2006.It can be recalled that Lee Min Ho , along with his good friend and fellow actor Jung Il Woo figured in a serious car accident in 2006 in which the Legend of the Blue Sea star had to undergo surgery to insert a metal rod inserted into his leg. The accident also resulted in a leg fracture for the actor.

Actor Lee Min-ho is set to start his mandatory military service this week. Lee, who has actively engaged in charitable activities and donations, vowed to continue his good deeds while serving his military duties, in an e-mail interview on Wednesday.

Lee created an online fundraising platform in 2014 to encourage his fans to participate in donations and volunteering works.

"When I started donating through the platform, which sets different themes every year such as shortage of water, safety of children and protection of animal, my fans showed their interest and joined in on the efforts", said Lee. "I was able to newly realize the importance of sharing while doing that".

On April 18, his agency MYM Entertainment stated, "Lee Min Ho will start his military service as a public service worker at the Gangnam District Office in Seoul on May 12. He plans to enlist privately. He's been given a place as a public service employee due to his car accidents in 2006 and 2011."

Lee Min Ho's last project was the SBS drama 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' this past January. He'll be featured in the upcoming MBCdocumentary 'DMZ, The Wild'. He's also currently dating idol star Suzy.
