Lee Min-ho Wins Prize at Inaugural Weibo Film Awards

Actor Lee Min-ho gained an award given to one of the vitalmaximum influential Asian stars by capacity of the Chinese social networking carrier Weibo at an awards rite in Shanghai on Monday, Lee's controlfirmacknowledged on Wednesday.

In the inaugural event, Lee used to bevenerated with the pinnacle prize as he garnered the most votes in a webballotof a fewone hundred million Weibo subscribers.

Meanwhile, Lee's upcoming film, "Bounty Hunters" beneath a joint Korea-China production will hit local theaters there in July.

Pieta Wins Top Prize at 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards

South Korean director Kim Ki-duk's "Pieta" won the award for best film of the year at the 33rd Blue Dragon Film Awards in Seoul on Friday night.

While accepting the grand prix at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Kim described his film as a reflection of extreme capitalism where money rules over all. He also expressed his hopes that the South Korean society would become one that's centered around people and not money.

This year's Blue Dragon Film Awards also saw Choi Min-sik receive the award for best leading actor in "Nameless Gangster". Im Soo-jeong received the award for best leading actress for her performance in "Everything about my Wife".

Meanwhile, Ryoo Seung-yong and Moon Jung-hee received awards for best supporting actor and actress respectively, and director Chung Ji-young received the award for best director for his film, "Unbowed".

Only one non-Korean film took home an award, as well: “Mad Max: Fury Road” won Best Trailer. Meanwhile, Max Movie named their list of 11 emerging film stars of 2016, based 60 % on moviegoers opinion and 40 percent on film professionals opnion.

Lee Min Ho Wins Best New Actor At The 52nd Daejong Film Awards

Lee Min Ho received the Best New Actor award at the 52nd Daejong Film Awards. (Photo : KBS ) Lee Min Ho shined on the stage of the 52nd Daejong Film Awards, as the recipient of Best New Actor honors for his debut movie role in "Gangnam 1970."

On November 20, the Hallyu star graciously accepted the award, after defeating actors Park Seo Joon (Chronicles of Evil), Kang Ha Neul (Twenty), and Lee Hyun Woo (Northern Limit Line).

In his acceptance speech, he referenced the Rookie award he received in 2009 for his role in the Hallyu hit, "Boys Over Flowers."

"Six years ago, I came up on this stage to receive the Rookie award for "Boys Over Flowers," said Lee. "Today, I"m on this stage to receive the Best New [Newcomer] Actor award for "Gangnam 1970." Sincere thanks to director and all of the [cast and crew] of "Gangnam 1970," who worked so hard on this film."

He went on to express his desire to improve his acting, as a burgeoning film star.

"I will put more hard work into my films," said Lee. "I hope to contribute more to Korean film, in the future."

While the majority of the Best New Actor nominees were present for the ceremony, with the exception of Yeo Jin Goo, the 52nd Daejong Film Awards was marred by controversy, following a boycott from many major stars.

Popularity Award winners Kim Soo Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin were not present for the ceremony, with management for both stars citing scheduling conflicts.

Jun Ji Hyun, who was the recipient of the Best Actress award for her "Assassination," was notably absent from the ceremony, along with Hwang Jung Min (Ode to My Father), who received the Best Actor Award.

"Ode to My Father," a family film that was a surprising hit, was the top winner of the night. The movie recognized as the Best Film and Ol Dal Su received the Best Support Actor award for his role in the movie.

"Ode to My Father" also received Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

Best New Actress went to You Young Lee for "Late Spring," while Kim Hae Sook received Best Supporting Actress honors for "Ode to My Father."

"The Royal Tailor," which was noted for the gorgeous hanboks worn by Park Shin Hye in the film, received Best Costume Design.

While there were many seasoned stars who were absent from the ceremony, it provided an opportunity for rising film actors and actresses to shine.

Bae Doona Wins Best Actress Award at Asian Film Awards

Actress Bae Doona has won the Best Actress award at the 9th Asian Film Awards.

The actress won for her work in the film A Girl Next Door at the award ceremony, which took place in Macau on March 25.

For the award, she competed against Gong Li (Coming Home), Kalki Koechlin (Margarita with a Straw), Rie Miyazawa (Pale Moon), Tang Wei (The Golden Era), and Zhao Wei (Dearest).

Bae Doona has thus became the third Korean actress to win the Best Actress award. Previously, Kim Hye Ja won the award in 2010 for Mother and Jeon Do Yeon won the award in 2008 for Secret Sunshine.

In A Girl at My Door, the talented actress played a police officer who finds herself thrust into conflicts after being transferred to a quiet seaside town.

On March 20th, CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa has taken home two awards at the 2015 Hong Kong Weibo Star Awards

With these honors, the singer/actor became the first Korean celebrity to win at the Hong Kong Weibo Star Awards. He won in the categories for “The Hottest Korean Star” and “Gaon-Weibo Chart’s Most Influential Korean Star.” The awards, planned by Weibo and Sina, celebrate some of the biggest celebrities in China, based on social media activities.

Jung Yong Hwa has been number one on the Gaon-Weibo music chart for the last 17 weeks, starting in mid-November until last week.

Jung Yong Hwa recently had a successful solo promotion, with his single “One Fine Day” winning on various music programs.

Actress Jeon Ji-hyeon wins Grand Prize from SBS Drama Awards

There was no accident. Actress Jeon Ji-hyeon won the Grand Prize (Daesang) from the 2014 SBS Drama Awards, which took place at COEX Convention Center, Seoul on December 31st.

Jeon Ji-hyeon was honored to receive the Grand Prize for her role in "My Love from the Star" from the 2014 SBS Drama Awards broadcast live.

Jeon Ji-hyeon said accepting her Grand Prize award, "Since "My Love from the Star" started around this time last year, It is with the great emotions that I am standing here around the same time. I"d like to thank writer Park Ji-eun, director Jang Tae-yoo and all the staff members".

She continued, "I also thank Kim Soo-hyeon-I who was amazing this year. It"s really all thanks to you. Thank you. I always hoped acting could be the best gift and I"ll keep that in mind. I"d like to share this honor with my loving husband, Choi Jae-hyeok and my agency representative".

Jeon Ji-hyeon proved herself as the top actress in 2014 by winning the four awards in total from the SBS Drama Awards including the Grand Prize, Producer Award, Best Couple Award and Top 10 Star Award.

Jeon Ji-hyeon was successful in making her strong presence on the TV screen, playing "Cheon Song-i" in the drama, "My Love from the Star" since she came back in 14 years since 1999.

Kim Soo-hyeon-I also received four awards including the Top Excellence Award for Actor, Best Couple Award, Top 10 Star Award, and Popularity Award by Netizens. Kim Soo-hyeon-I was overwhelmed with emotions and cried giving his acceptance speech for the Top Excellence Award for Actor.

"My Love from the Star" proved its second to none popularity by taking home 10 awards in total including the multiple awards for Kim Soo-hyeon-I and Jeon Ji-hyeon, the Special Actor Award for Kim Chang-wan, the Excellence Award for Actor for Sin Seong-rok, and the New Star Award for Ahn Jae-hyeon.

Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye"s "Pinocchio" took four awards in total including rhe Top Excellence Award for Actress for Park Shin-hye, the Top 10s Star Award for Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye, the Best Couple Award for Lee Jong-suk and Park Shin-hye.

Jo In-Seong and Kong Hyo-jin"s " It"s Okay, That"s Love " scored 5 awards including the Top Excellence Award for Actress for Kong Hyo-jin, the Special Actor Award for Lee Gwang-soo, the Special Actress Award for Jin Kyeong, the Excellence Award for Actor for Seong Dong-il, and the Best Couple Award for Jo In-Seong and Kong Hyo-jin.

Top star Jo In-seong wins grand prize at 2014 Style Icon Awards

Actor Jo In-Seong received the grand prize at the Style Icon Awards (SIA).

The 2014 Style Icon Awards was held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaze (DDP) on the 28th and Jo In-Seong won "Style Icon of The Year".

During his speech, Jo In-Seong said, "I have received such an amazing award. It"s the best one yet. I wish I was able to say great things like the others, but I think I"m still far behind. I"ll take this award and cherish it for the future; I am going to work hard so I don"t disappoint. And usually I would say I dedicate this award to someone, but today I"ll dedicate it to myself".

Jo In-Seong rose to the top with his outstanding performance in the SBS drama "It"s Okay, That"s Love".

SIA is the only awards show in Korea which looks around at entertainment, culture and arts and select those who have influenced the public in those areas.

Up to 50 of the SIA Grand Prize candidates were professionally judged and voted for online all over the world and was shortlisted to 10 candidates who were most supported by the public and professionals.

Kim Soo-hyeon, Kim Hee-ae, Jo In-Seong, Yoo Yeon-seok, Ko Ah-ra, Park Hae-jin, g.o.d, Taetiseo, 4Minute and SISTAR Soo-yoo took home the Teen Style Icon Awards.
