[MV & Album Review] Akdong Musician – 'Summer Episode/Dinosaur'

AKDONG MUSICIAN – SUMMER EPISODE

"DINOSAUR" is basically, like most tracks in K-pop these days, tropical house. Well, that's to be expected as most tropical house tunes are just the perfect fit for summer. Even though it is following the trend, the tune does have some uniqueness to it, in that they don't go for the usual faux reggae beat that's so common for that musical style. Instead, they still do them. The tune is cute, talking about a dinosaur that used to menace them and their family in their dreams. A sweet, playful tune.

RED VELVET – THE RED SUMMER – Summer Mini Album

Red Velvet brings the sizzle to the season with their new summer release 'The Red Summer!' Known for tracks like "Dumb Dumb" and "Rookie," the band now has a new EP. Their newest mini-album has five new tracks, including the title track "Red Flavor."

"Red Flavor" doesn't really resonate with me as much as it could. It's bright, poppy, cheerful, and altogether summery. It's also catchy as all get out. I like the beginning a lot, but I don't think the song flows as well as I'd want. I think the chorus is the best part by far, and I heart the bridges and ad-libs. But the main verses are odd: it seems like each line either has too many words or not enough to fill out the melody.

Akdong Musician continue the creepy theme in 'Summer Episode' tracklist

Akdong Musicianhave dropped their tracklist for 'Summer Episode'!

The sister-brother duo continued the slightly creepy theme from their previous video teaser. The tracklist reveals the single album will contain two songs - "Dinosaur" and "My Darling". It wouldn't be summer without a little scare, right?

The duo is coming back on July 20 at 6PMKST!

[MV & Album Review] TEEN TOP - 'High Five / Love Is'

TEEN TOP comes back as a quintet to give their fans a 'High Five.' Joe.L's departure was an emotional affair for the band, but they pulled it together for a 2017 comeback. Not only that, but they offer up 11 tracks for your perusal.

"Origin," like 99% of intro tunes, has echoes of the title track. Specifically Niel's falsetto. The rest is some odd electronic mashup that I'm guessing was meant to sound somewhat romantic. It's okay as intro tracks go, but hardly the highlight of the album.

[MV & Album Review] Minzy - 'Minzy Work 01 Uno / Ninano'

MINZY -- MINZY WORK 01. "UNO"

4. Flashlight (Feat. Jay Park)

6. Ninano (English Rap Ver.) (Feat. Flowsik)

After leaving 2NE1 / YG and joining Music Works, Minzy's been hard at work on her solo album 'UNO.' Here she teams up with rapper Flowsik and singer/actor/producer Jay Park to bring you 6 tracks on her very first solo outing. To further showcase her talent, she wrote the lyrics to all of these herself (though Jay Park and Flowsik had a hand in the songs they feature on).
