Lee Seung Gi, Gu Family Book
Lee Seung Gi Celebrates 10 Years in the Entertainment Industry, 'Humble Rookie' For Lee Seung Gi, who is going on his 10th year as a singer, actor and entertainer, even the sky may not be the limit.
Since making his debut as a singer in 2004, his four regular albums and two special albums have all been successful, establishing him as one of the few true artists in K-Pop.
Taking his talents to variety shows in 2008, Lee Seung Gi became a more familiar, comfortable character to not only the younger fans who were already in love with his music but also the moms and dads as well as the grandparents who got to see his charm in '1 Night 2 Days' on KBS. In 2009, he showed yet another aspect of his talents as a talk show host on 'Strong Heart' next to Kang Ho Dong.
A rare feat for a singer-turned-actor, he was received well by critics from the start and has continued to build his track record in numerous successful dramas like 'Great Expectations,' 'My Girlfriend is a Nine-tailed Fox' and 'The King to Hearts.'
In a new MBC drama, "Gu Family Book,"Lee Seung Gi plays a fearless Choi Kang Chi who is a romantic full of charisma. The reviews on his acting were favorable.
The greatest feat accomplished by Lee Seung Gi, however, may not be his successful music or TV shows. Considering not only the amount of success he has enjoyed but also the lack of failures he had, one would expect such a success-guaranteed celebrity to become a little big-headed at times. But Lee Seung Gi has pursued even more humility with the rise of his stocks.
A staff member at "Gu Family Book" shared that "Lee Seung Gi is always down to earth and humble like a rookie. During a recent filming of a scene with over 100 extras, he went to each of them to say hi and extend his welcome." He added, "He must be exhausted from extensive hours of filming but he never lets it show. He is always the first to check on others and make sure everyone is good to go. Everybody owes a lot to him."
A close associate of Lee Seung Gi shared that "His experience during '1 Night 2 Days' when he got to meet a lot of different people helped him tremendously with his perspective and attitude on life as well as with his ability to act."
"He shed about 6-7 pounds on what was already a slim frame to better fit the character he is playing in 'Gu Family Book'. He is giving it his all," he added.
