Seouling without the Seoul? What’s a lady gotta do to get some K-pop feels over in the States? As a contemporary transport back to the U.S., my existence has been in sore want of K-pop colour since I returned from Korea 3 months ago. Where are the idol faces plastered on buses? The lovelyphotographs and packaging on everything? The life-sized cutouts of EXO in front of Nature Republic? Er, wait, the ones still exist in NYC Koreatown.

Needless to say, I used to be more than a little extremely joyful when given the opportunity to constitute Soompi at KCON NY. This used to be it! A chance to reignite my K-pop feels back afterward leaving Korea for a couple of months.

Although KCON began early on morning closing Friday, I wasn’t in a position to make it into the housetill the early afternoon. I becomein an instant blown away by the choice ofenthusiasts and the naturalpower on web site when I arrived.

It at all times amazes me when K-pop fans get in combination and the affection and determinationthey have got for their artists and other fans. This time was no exception. Once ane stepped into the courtyard surrounding the Prudential Middle I may justlisten fans signing along (in Korean!) to a BTS song to my left, and to my appropriate I saw fans guffawing and chatting — all whilst cosplaying as their favourite idols.

I slowly browsed in the process theendless stalls and was temporarily overloaded with how much amazing stuff was around me. Sheet mask amongst Song Joong Ki’s face! Hampers in the form of bumblebees! Hats with idol’s names on them! All over I looked was a proclamation of love for K-pop and Korean culture, and it was amazing.

The hours whittled away on Friday and prior to I knew it I was stepping out from taking pictures at the red carpet and walking into my phase for the concert that night.

The calories at the concert was infectious. SEVENTEEN, Ailee, Dynamic Duo, Crush, and BTOB killed the night. Highlights included: SLAYLEE Ailee crushing it after technical difficulties and proceeding to sing acapella after the track cute out, SEVENTEEN being adorable, BTOB talking hilarious English (see below), and Dynamic Duo and Weigh down reminding me why I admire Korean hip-hop.

Yook Sungjae: Um YEAH Good enough Next song is.. DONT FearBe at liberty Its OK, OK?!?! LISTEN.

I won’t lie, it was once a slightlybloodless and depressing day when I made up our minds to discuss with VIXX’s ongoing mini-exhibition at the Gangnam Tourist Center. I used to be relived for the heat and safe haven from the wind the constructionpresentedonce 1 stepped inside.

I had heard throughout the grapevine that there has been a VIXX exhibition at the tourist center, and even though I’m no longer quite certain if it’s big enough to be called an exhibition, it turned intoappealingto look the things they displayed. The Gangnam Tourist Middlesteadily cycles via K-pop showcases and presentations on the 2nd oneground of the center, which conveiently is situatednow not too some distanceclear ofthe start of K-Star Road. The exhibitions are loose to the public, and when I went there was a small crew of topcollegeladies there snapping pictures.

As soon as I entered the building I noticed the stairs in the corner and began heading up. If there was any query about the direction in which I had to go, the thumping beat of VIXX’s tune would have eased my fears. Glossy framed pictures decorated my ascent up to the moment floor, and I paused to snap a couple of photos of the display screen of pieces and degreegown from “Voodoo Doll.” It was interesting getting to see the items used in the music video and on stage up close.

On the second surface there was a wide screen looping VIXX’s music videos. As smartly as that, the piano used in the VIXX LR music video stood for enthusiasts to admire.

Toward the back of the room there was a sizableexhibit of VIXX comparable goods, stage costumes, and presents from debut till present, along sidemassive signed cutouts of each and every of the members. At thecontrary wall fans crowded around framed Polaroid that the participants had taken, taking photographsof every one.

As the Gangnam Tourist Center is regularly used as the hub for K-pop associated tourist activities, I also took the opportunity to try the handprints of alternative stars lining the walls. EXO, Super Junior, and others had all left their handprints in the center. In addition, there was a small shop promoting K-pop goods on the second floor, in addition to a makeup and good looks salon in the back.

VIXX’s mini-exhibition may be running unless January 23, 2016.

How to Get There: Take Line 3 to Apgujeong Station, pop out of go out six and cross straight, the tourist center will be lower than a block down.

Seouling: Take the K-Star Street In the process the Hub of K-Pop

Seouling: Take the K-Star Street In the process the Hub of K-Pop

Seouling: Take the K-Star AvenueThroughout the Hub of K-Popharmonicar December 18, 2015 0 LINE it!Seouling: Take the K-Star Road Via the Hub of K-Pop On a brisk day in Seoul, I took at thesituation of walking down K-Star Road, the noted Gangnam tourist enchantment that brings site visitors to the quite so much of entertainment firms that produce our K-pop stars, like SM and JYP.

I had prior to now walked down K-Star Road when it used to be just a road, and I used to be interested to look how the town of Seoul had spruced up a a bit barren and mildly boring street.

I wasn’t disappointed when I arrived. Popping out of the station I becomeinstantly greeted with a laugh decals and a colorful figure of the “Gangnam-dol,” a lovableundergo representing K-Star Road that was dressed vauguely like PSY. In addition, the streetwere striped and graffitied pink, blue, and white, to mark the trail of the special road.

Probably the maximum importantappeal of K-Star Road are the thrill bears the tourist place of business has produced, each and everycommittedto another group. There were too many to take photographs of all of them, yet one snapped as many as I could. Each were incredibly cute and unique. The Gangnam-dol middle sells figures of every bear, and I remorseful about a little now not picking up the INFINITE bear.

I had slightly walked a block when I reached the old SM Entertainment building. Here's the spot this is marked, and sits appropriate on, K-Star Road, and is surelychallenging to miss! On each occasion I pass via the building, there is at all timesa wide advertizement pasted all over the place the external to put it up for sale the company’s newestunmarried or event. When I visited this time, an advertisement for their pop-up store, SUM, had claimed the space. I rounded the corner to snap a shot of the (empty) entrance. There were no fanaticslooking forward to artists the day I was there.

I paused before deciding to seek suggestion fromthe hot SM Entertainment construction every bit well. As some other folkscould also be aware, SM began building a new beautiful building a couple of years ago. I’ve heard now that most artists like totrain there now, even thoughI suspect the old building would possibly still be used. Regardless, it was a very simple — if somewhat long — walk to the new building. After turning the corner and walking down the the ground of the line and an extra few blocks right, I discovered myself in front of the new building. After snapping a few shots, I headed back to where I left off.

As I endured down K-Star Road I learned that the bears had grow to be more spaced out. The urban of Seoul had at first placed around 10 bears, and lately added further ones this year because of their popularity. The new bears mark the portions of the road further from the station, and are a wonderful way to stay yourself from getting lost!

I took a left at the Block B bear and continued down the down to discover myself in front of JYP Entertainment. A bit farther down the road was Cube Entertainment, which I had visited previously. By this time, it was getting dark, and the Dunkin’ Donuts across from JYP was packed with fans hoping to get a lookin their favs.

I had naively concept that my explorations would take me not more than an hour or so, but by the time I was ableto move back home, it had been as regards to more than two hours and I barely scratched the outside of K-Star Road. As smartly as SM, JYP, and Cube, FNC Entertainment also has their workplace along the K-Star Road area. There also are idol-frequented restaurants and coffee retail outlets that the tourist center recommends as well. If you’re inquisitive about checking it out, I highly suggest picking up a map of the complete route, and devoting a minimum of an afternoon to it. The Gangnam Tourist Center also provides a loose “K-pop Tour” which brings friends to a portion of the places on the map.

How To Get There: Take Line Seven to Apujeong Rodeo Station, take Go out 6 and observe the symptoms to K-Star Road.

I heard about BTSs Butterfly Dream Exhibition a couple of weeks ago from a close friend. A committed ARMY, she used to be excited at the chance of seeing their short-run media exhibition and asked if Identificationlove to go. I used to beinquisitive about the content of the exhibition, and, after inquiring, BigHit Entertainment turned intosortsufficient to grant me a press pass into the showing.

I wasnt actuallycertain to expect, after all, what precisely is a media exhibition? However, I was shocked by the prettypictures lining the walls once I stepped foot into the basement warehouse where Butterfly Dream was. In the entrance, a barrel-top screen also showcased drawings and messages written by the boys.

Although small, the exhibition is a BTS enthusiasts paradise, and supplies a small glimpse into the making of  The Most lovely Moment in Existence Pt. 2. Unreleased photos set on cleverly decorated boxes and stands bordered the space, and a video of BTS taking a lookairy on sheer-curtain-screens looped in the background.

A personalized touchhave been added by the contributors themselves, with handwritten comments dispersed across the walls, and scribbled beneathsituations of Polaroid photos. Whilst fans clustered around propped up backgrounds that members had posed with to snap photos themselves.

The exhibition concluded with a small shop stuffed with postcards and BTS merchandise. There has been also a small stand to buybeverages from, that have been wittily coined with the members names. Rapmon Hazelnut Latte, V Americano, Jin Chamomile, JK Caramel Latte, and more ranged from 3,500-4,000 won (approximately $3).

I was once a little shocked by how close Cube Entertainment changed into to our Soompi administrative center in Seoul. Cube Cafe is authentic in the reality that it's milesone of the crucial few (only?) cafes which areattachedwithout delay alongsidethe corporate itself. Long past were the handprints of artists that aligned the ground and piled up shows of fan goods, and as an alternative was a trendy and graceful cafe decorated in cool Cube blue. Perhaps because I best had one panel to wait and had more time to explore at the convention. And also maybe since the hype for the key headliner, BTS, used to be intense.

After my remaining panel with NuttyNomads, East Coast K-Spots, there has beenan infinitequantity of time for me to try the Korean food street. From the Nongshim Shin Ramyun stand for the ones thatwish to existrelatively sadistic and treat themselves to a hot taster of ramyun in the sweltering warmth to the Melona booth wearing3other flavors in their signature ice pops to cool things down.

A few meters away, lines of local food trucks got herevia to give a dose of Asian cuisine. From the potato spiral, Korean tacos, to kimbap and other Korean boulevard foods, there were also burgers and fries to be hador even an ice cream truck serving them in scoops in a hot glazed doughnut called creamybuns.

On the opposite side, of the convention, Day6 made a distinct appearance in the Toyota booth and did a small meet and greet with fortunate fans. Taking photographs and an never-ending amount of fan service, the encompassingspaces of the tent become packed.

Throughout the conference fans were spotted shooting amongst their favourite K-Pop YouTubers similar to J.R.E and Jun Curry Ahn whilst they post up short meet and greet spots round the convention.

Moments later, the crowd headed in for the moment and last day of KCON's M! Countdown concert.

Just like the primary day's host, Ailee and Rap Monster took the degreeback and offered the night's opener - MAMAMOO.

The four-member ladycrew brought the crowd to cheers proving that their reputationis solely every bitwonderful the male teams on the KCON line-up. While they sang "You're The Best" in their setlist it was when they sang "Taller Than You (1cm)" when I were given hyped. Now not because that was the sole song I knew, yet the beat sounded like a badass feminineedition of Eminem's "The GenuineSlender Shady."

After MAMAMOO's set, JYP's choice pop/rock back Day6 came out in complete ensemble appearing "Letting Go," "Congratulations," and "Freely." As many idea their set might've been a brief one, the crowd created a special stage and collaborated with MAMAMOO. The 2 groups conducted a K-Pop medley of CN Blue's "I'm A Loner," Big Bang's "Lies" and the sweetness Girls' "Nobody."

Bringing a more romantic feel to the concert, Eric Nam popped up from the front-end of the concert stage with a bouquet of roses as offers them out to his fans as he plays his first song. Followed by his vintagetune "I'm Okay" the singer/song-writer and host entertained his fans with non-publicstudies and jokes in between songs. Debuting his exclusive unmarried with Kolaj, Eric Nam accomplished "Into You" and gave Prudential Center a run for its participation as the crowd clapped and jumped along to the EDM track.

It was moments later that Eric came back on stage with Ailee for every other particular phase performing Soyou and Jung Gigo's hit song "Some." With the two buddies hilariously noticing how awkward the functionality afterwards, the two Korean-American K-Pop stars ended the evening as MCs to introduce the primary headliners of KCON - BTS.

Screams were louder than ever as the stage was lit. Literally. The displays on stage already gave a trace to what was the group's opening song would be- "FIRE." The Prudential Center lit up inside milliseconds with lightsticks and mildforums as fans began jumping up and down from their seats spazzing.

BTS comes up from the stage in flaming charismatic poses as they and the crowd started to sing "FIRE."

I, myself, could nothang back the dancing as well. I would most likely not know the choreography but there was some intense headbanging, head bopping and dabbing on my end.

Soon following up with "Save Me," BTS continues to leave a deep affect within everybody with their synchronized choreography to the tropical house-like track.

When it came to particular person introductions, the screams just grew louder and louder. The neighborhood then broke it down with performing a complete freestyle/rap ensemble and closed out the night with their viral hit "DOPE."

The night was not anything simply lit.

As all the KCON Day 2 performers came out for the closing stage, artists gave their proportion of fan provider by sending out flying kisses, mini-hearts and waves. Some artists like Ailee and MAMAMOO busted out in moves while BTS's Junggook proved himself to be the king of Dabs as he dabbed across one finish of the stage to another.

The amusing was at its top but it was unluckyto gain that KCON 2016 has come to an end.

They say time flies by when you may have got fun. And as for anyone who experienced KCON for the 1st time, it was an revel in that was way too fun and too fast. Till next year!
