The film's director Paul W.S. Anderson contacted Lee via emailing his agency, Namoo Actors.
"The director acknowledged in the email that he used to beinspired by Lee's action dramas and impression in Asia," said a representative of Namoo Actors told the Hollywood Reporter.

"He didn't just pick out me due to my popularity every bit a Hallyu actor. That moved me."

Lee startedrunning in the film in the fall of 2015, traveling to Cape Town, South Africa to shoot the primary scenes. Whilst filming, the 33-year-old actor told Appeal that he especially enjoyed operating amongst actress Milla Jovovich.

The ultimate installment of the "Resident Evil" film series is Lee's first Hollywood project, but it is going tomost likely not be his last. Other Korean stars that experience crossed over into Hollywood productions, come with Lee Byung Hun, Choi Min Sik, Move Ah Sung and Song Kang Ho.
The "Resident Evil" film series is in line with the video game of the similar name. The film's premiere is scheduled for January 2017.
