Promising Comeback with Bonus Baby’s “If I Become An Adult”

Having an eye-catching group name is an integral aspect when breaking into the bleak and competitive realms of K-Pop and Bonus Baby definitely hits the bullseye with their ridiculously intriguing name. Hailing from Maroo Entertainment which houses Kim Jongkook and boy band Supernova, the girl group prides themselves on being one of the youngest girl groups in K-Pop, with an average age of 16.6. It was in the nascent days of this year when the girls baby-stepped into the K-Pop world with “Urikiri”, also known as “We”, but received a lukewarm reaction. Both song and MV were vastly criticized for being ignoble, but their saccharine-induced comeback track “If I Become An Adult” is worth a listen.

[HanCinema's Film Review] "My Little Baby, Jaya"

The exploitation film is lurid for the sake of being lurid, enticing viewers with the promise that twisted depraved people will meet twisted depraved ends in the name of morose justice. The social awareness film, by contrast, seeks to make some sort of serious commentary about horrible unseen problems in daily life. "My Little Baby, Jaya" tries to be both of these things, with mixed success.

All right, I'll be honest. I kind of sort of hated "My Little Baby, Jaya" for nearly the entire runtime. We start out with Jaya (played by Oh Ye-seol) killing herself. Also her single dad Won-sool (played by Kim Jeong-gyoon) has cerebral palsy. High school bullying and cerebral palsy are conceivably interesting topics in their own right but undermine each other here. Considering Won-sool's cerebral palsy is at least partially why he couldn't do anything about Jaya's bullying, that kind of gives the impression that the social workers we see trying to take Jaya away as a kid had a point.

The May 3 broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'Mr. House Husband 2' featured Eli out shopping for baby clothes with his family.

The couple was picking out baby clothes at a department store, when Eli's wife mentioned, "I would like to choose a bigger size so it lasts longer."  Hearing this, Eli's mother commented, "It's just only for one season. It should fit just right."  With that, Eli interrupted and took his wife's side saying, "We can just give it to our second child later on..."
