Song Kang-ho Wins Best Actor at Fantasia Film Fest

Song Kang-ho won best actor at Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival for "A Taxi Driver" on Thursday.

It was his second win after "The Show Must Go on" 10 years ago.

"A Taxi Driver" looks at the horrors of the military crackdown on the Gwangju democratic uprising in May 1980.

Song plays a taxi driver who takes a German journalist to the center of the protests, unaware of the impending danger.

The film passed the 1 million viewer mark on Thursday, the second day of its run.

Actor Kang Dong Won recently attended the 16th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), where he took home the Star Asia Award.

The festival posted an official announcement regarding this honor through social media, and also shared a live video of the actor actually receiving the award.

In his acceptance speech, he relayed, Im very happy to have been invited to such a great movie festival, and to be awarded a huge honor. [This movies] genre is an uncommon one in Korea as well and many people worked together to challenge this new movie, so Im thankful to be able to meet the audience in New York.

Ha Jung-woo and Son Ye-jin were honored with the Chunsa Film Festival Best Actor and Actress.

The event was held in COEX on the 24th. Ha Jung-woo was awarded Best Actor for "Tunnel" and Son Ye-jin Best Actress for "The Truth Beneath".

Ha Jung-woo made a speech thanking those he worked with in the movie and thanked the director for giving him such a good character.

Son Ye-jin also made a speech saying she felt more responsible with every award she got.

Meanwhile, the Best Director went to Na Hong-jin from "The Wailing", the Best Supporting Actor to Park Jung-min from "DongJu, The Portrait of A Poet" and the Best Supporting Actress to Yoo In-young from "Misbehavior".
