Sunmi shares why she decided to leave JYP Entertainment after 10 years

Former Wonder Girls member Sunmi talked about her departure from JYP Entertainment. 

On August 22, Sunmi held a showcase for new solo album 'Gashina'. The singer was given varying questions about her first music release since joining MAKE US Entertainment, and she was also asked about the reason she left the major label JYPE.

Sunmi explained, "I felt like a frog in a well. I was under JYPE for 10 years. It was difficult to leave and I'm also afraid of new things, but the reason I made the decision was that I felt like my perspective was limited. I believed there would be a different world (outside of JYPE)."

G.Soul's contract with JYP Entertainment just ended and he decided to join H1GHR MUSIC. It is a label founded by Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone which focuses on hip-hop music.

After G.Soul's contract with JYP Entertainment, he received many offers from various agencies, but he chose H1GHR MUSIC as his final pick because he has been friends with Jay Park for a long time, Soompireported.

G.Soul spent many years being a trainee in JYP Entertainment and he finally made his debut in 2015. He was training for 15 years and finally had his debut for about two years before his contract ended. He hopes to create more good music on his new label which has Yultron, Avatar Darko, and Raz Simone in it.

G.Soul shared about his long trainee days. 

The RB singer started training under JYP Entertainment back in 2000. After 15 long years, he finally made his debut under the label in 2015. Then a year later in June of 2016, G. Soul left JYP and joined Jay Park's label H1GHR MUSIC.

On SBS MTV 'The Stage Big Pleasure', MC Kim Yoon Ah asked how the 15 years under JYP Entertainment influenced him. 

G.Soul answered, "I learned so much. I learned patience and also learned that I always have to be consistent, hard working, and continuous in everything I do."

The theme of the broadcast was challenge. Sunmi said, There have been a lot of challenges for me in 2017. My first challenge was my new album. It was my first solo comeback in three and a half years. Id changed a lot and thats why I had a lot to think about. I had a lot of thoughts about the direction I wanted to go in. On stage, you have to bring out all your energy in 3 minutes. That was hard and I worried about it.

On September 10, Sunmi revealed through her Naver 'V-Live' broadcast that it was a tough decision to leave JYP Entertainment.

During the stream, Sunmi interacted with viewers and talked about the concept of a 'Challenge'. She said, "2017 so far has been a year where I faced many challenges." She continued, "My first challenge was my solo album that I released after 3 years and 5 months. It might have been due to many changes with myself but I had a lot of worries especially with which direction I should take. Within 3 minutes on the stage, I need to pour all my energy into the performance, that's really hard and I was really worried about it."
