T-ara’s “What’s My Name” Lacks Not Only Members, but Effort

T-ara has dropped lead single “What’s My Name” without members Soyeon and Boram, in what seems like their most half-assed venture to date. At this point I know I’m not the only disappointed fan around; who else is done with MBK Entertainment’s nonsense?

Putting aside the latest management-versus-artist drama surrounding member contracts, the release didn’t exactly have an auspicious start: teaser photos for “What’s My Name” involved a font that may or may not have been written with someone’s index finger for Snapchat.

The Korean version features the current four members looking stunning in white dresses, carrying bottles with rolled-up messages inside. At one point in the teaser, the members each pick up their bottles from the edge of a fountain. However, two empty bottles remain, which appear to signify members Boram and Soyeon who are no longer with the group.

Minzy says she's where she is at now because of YG + 2NE1 members' support

On April 17, singer Minzy held her solo debut showcase for 'MINZY WORK 01 UNO'.

Debuting as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, Minzy was the first member to leave the group as she did not re-sign her contract with YG in April 2016.

During the interview, Minzy commented, "I am both very anxious and amazed by the fact that I am releasing my own song.  I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it."

On having made the tough decision to stand alone on stage, Minzy stated, "It was as if I was leaving my hometown, with YG and 2NE1 behind.  I felt burdened because a lot of people were depending on me. It was a chance for me to take on a new challenge and a way for me to mature."
