When it comes to underappreciated idol groups especially from smaller companies, Top Medias Up10tion takes the cake without a doubt. After an eight-month hiatus, the boys have returned to the music scene with their newest title track “Runner” off mini-album Star;dom. Though short of Wooshin, who was reported to be suffering from mental distress possibly due to the sexual harassment controversy with Somi, this didn’t hinder the group from making their highly-anticipated comeback.

After being fairly impressed by SNSDs Hyoyeons first solo track Mystery, I was looking forward to Wannabe featuring San E. The teaser seemed to promise a very interesting beat as the groundwork and the visuals solidified what I had suspected: Hyoyeon giving off the image of edgy by using rap as a conduit. The full MV does all that, and it got some things right and some things wrong.
The visuals from the teaser had me rolling my eyes and the full MV? Even more so. The video is shot in a gym where Black men are working out and paying no mind to Hyoyeon rapping, singing, and doing lackluster choreography with other Korean backup dancers. The guys in Hyoyeons video serve no other purpose but to just exist and make it seem like Hyoyeon has street credit and swag. She doesnt even interact with any of them, so they are devalued to the status of ornaments. It would have been preferable to cast Korean men working out at the gym instead.

Actor Jang Mi Kwan wont be joining KBS 2TVs upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Best Delivery People (working title) after all.
On June 13, the chief producer of Best Delivery People said, Jang Mi Kwan will be leaving the cast. He explained that this was because there were some disagreements while working out details.
The role that Jang Mi Kwan had been offered was that of Oh Jin Kyu, a second generation chaebol. The original casting news had gained lots of attention since he portrayed the perfect villain in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.
After weeks of misguided comedy, meandering plot lines, and a misplaced prioritising of tone over characterisation, its finally a wrap for Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. This last quarter, especially the final episode, rights a few of its many wrongs. Perhaps its better late than never, but at the same time, its a sad reminder of how great the drama could have been if only it had remembered to focus on its heroine, her growth, and her relationships with the people around her.
