Employed Koreans earn W3.29 million a month on average, but men make 1.7 times more money than women and staff in big businesses 1.8 times more than in small firms, according to a survey of 1,500 salaried workers by Statistics Korea on Thursday (US$1=W1,143).

The median income amounts to only W2.41 million a month, but the average salary is W880,000 higher the medium income because of a small number of ultra-high earners.

Baek Woong-ki at the state-run Korea Development Institute said, "As technology develops rapidly, managers and skilled workers reap most of the profits, while unskilled workers are left out".

The proportion of dual-income households with young children in Korea is way below the OECD average, while Korean husbands put in just half as much time helping out around the house as their OECD peers, according to a study released Monday, which suggests a link between the two.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor analyzed the employment status of couples with children aged 14 or younger in Korea and other OECD members. It found that only 29.4 percent of Korean couples in this category have two incomes, compared to the OECD average of 58.5 percent.

On July 10, a video popped up on YouTube via 'ShaunDan TV' where YouTuberShaun conducted an experiment going around the streets while riding a wheelchair and asking random women for their phone numbers.

Shaun explained in the video that, "I was led to create this video after someone made a comment on one of my previous videos saying 'I think a handicapped person will be rejected by Korean women if they were to confess to them.'" He also added, "I felt sorry for the person who wrote the comment saying he had a disability and had the stereotypical mindset of feeling rejected by Korean women."

Lee Joon Donates Generous Amount To Comfort Women

Idol-turned-actor Lee Joon has been garnering praise for his kind deed towards comfort women, victims of sexual slavery at the hands of Japanese soldiers during World War II.

A representative from House of Sharing, a charity providing welfare facilities to comfort women, confirmed that Lee Joon donated a generous amount of 10 million won (approximately $8,864).

This isnt the first time Lee Joon has given back to the community. He previously donated to the Sewol Ferry disaster, and he also participated in a Salvation Army charity event last year, dressed up in an animal costume.
