Yoo Yun Suk is joining the cast of new drama 'Mr. Sunshine'.

On July 10, King Kong by Starship announced, "Yoo Yun Suk confirmed to join 'Mr. Sunshine' for the role of Goo Dong Mae."

'Mr. Sunshine', written by scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook of 'Goblin', 'Descendants of the Sun', 'Secret Garden', and more, is a human melodrama set in the 1900s. 

Along with Yoo Yun Suk, rookie actress Kim Tae Ri from the movie 'The Handmaiden and actor Lee Byung Hun confirmed to play the leads.

Just months after finishing work on "Goblin", Kim Eun-sook is already back at work with new project, "Mr. Sunshine".

Set in the early 20th century, "Mr. Sunshine" tells the story of a star-crossed love between a common soldier in the resistance movement against the Japanese occupation and an aristocrat's daughter. There's no word on casting yet, so feel free to fantasize about who you'd like to see in some fantastic period clothing in a time of great turmoil in Korea. Don't get too attached to your selection, though; Kim Eun-sook already has an actor in mind, though she has yet to reveal any names. Not surprising, since she's just about to start work on the script and the drama is in the very early stages of pre-production.

Actor Lee Byung Hun has just been cast for the lead role in writer Kim Eun Sooks latest drama, Mr. Sunshine, which means he will be returning to the small screen after eight years. Previously, Kim Eun Sook has written many hit dramas including Descendants of the Sun and Goblin.

On June 24, a representative from the dramas production company confirmed Lee Byung Huns casting. They also revealed that the drama will be set in the 1900s and will tell the story of soldiers who are not written as part of Koreas history.

On July 6, Hwadam Pictures confirmed that Kim Tae Ri has been given the female lead of scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook's new production. Actor Lee Byung Hun (46) has also confirmed to return to the small screens through 'Mr. Sunshine'.

Screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, who has written successful dramas like Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, Lovers in Paris, Secret Garden, and Heirs, has decided upon her next project.

The drama, which is tentatively titled Mr. Sunshine, is set in the early 1900s, before the Japanese occupation of Korea (1910-1945). The drama will tell the story of a Korean man who adopts a new identity as a solider in the United States army after embarking on a battleship from Korea during the United States expedition to Korea in 1871. The man returns to Joseon after being stationed there and falls in love with a woman from an aristocratic family.
