What is authentic hip-hop?

Between the underground hip hop scene, rap battle shows, record label trainee auditions, and mainstream idol rappers, it seems like there is no shortage of methods to attain widespread fame as a rapper in the South Korean Music Industry. However, challenges have begun to rear their faces as rappers are beginning to be carefully examined for any negligence to acknowledge their own instances of cultural appropriation by international and domestic fans alike. Xenophobia, or an irrational dislike of people from other countries, exists as a rampant issue in South Koreaand is often times projected onto the genre of Rap and Hip Hop. HiteJinro Hits W1 Trillion Mark in Soju Sales

HiteJinro said Tuesday its annual sales of distilled liquor soju surpassed W1 trillion for the first time since it first came to the market in 1998 (US$1=W1,143).

It sold W1.01 trillion worth of Chamisul soju last year.

Chamisul, which is estimated to account for half of the distilled liquor market, became the first soju brand to reach the milestone after HiteJinro sold W963.6 million worth of bottles in 2014 and W975.6 billion in 2015.

About 1.7 billion bottles of soju were shipped last year, which translates to about 42 bottles consumed by 40.15 million adults in Korea.
