[Guest Film Review] "Mrs. B. A North Korean Woman"

Winner of the Best Film of the Documentary Competition in Moscow and Best International Documentary Film in Zurich Film, "Mrs B" is a very impressive documentary, shot in true guerilla style.

Jero Yun was conducting a research for North Korean refugees in China for his previous film, "Looking for North Koreans" and spent time with a network of smugglers working between North Korea, China, South Korea and the United States. That is where he met Mrs. B. (whose actual name is not mentioned in the film), who put him in contact with North Korean refugees living clandestinely in China, and eventually in her farm where she told him her story, thus becoming the focus of this film.

EXOs D.O Confirmed To Be Starring In New Film Headed By Famous Korean Director

Earlier, it was reported that EXOs D.O (Do Kyung Soo) would be starring in a new film called Swing Kids (tentative).

Since then, SM Entertainment has confirmed that D.O will be taking on the lead role in Swing Kids. The agency stated, [D.O] is honored to be working with director Kang Hyung Chul.

Swing Kids is a film set in a concentration camp in North Korea during the Korean War. Ro Ki Soo, the character that D.O. will be taking on, is a North Korean soldier who falls in love with tap dancing in the midst of all the chaos.

“Swing Kids” is a film set in a North Korean prison camp during the Korean War. D.O.s character, Ro Ki Soo, is a young North Korean soldier who falls in love with tap dancing even in that dour and chaotic setting. It is based off of a much loved musical.

The Villainess, a Korean action film that stars actress Kim Ok Bin, has earned a stamp of approval from audiences at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival.

After its first official screening at midnight on May 22, the film was met with a standing ovation that lasted for four minutes. Amongst those who attended the screening was famed Korean director Park Chan Wook, who has directed movies like Oldboy (2003), The Handmaiden (2016), and Stoker (2013).

Netflixs Korean Film Okja receives four-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival

Netflixs first Korean original film Okja was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and received a standing ovation despite technical difficulties.

The bilingual Korean film Okja is a comedy that sheds light on GMO products and the ethics involving GMO foods, and stars globally recognized actors such as Tilda Swanton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Steven Yeun, and Korean child actor Ahn Seo Hyun.

The film, directed by Snowpiercers Bong Joon Ho, was shown at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and received a four-minute standing ovation, despite the controversies that arose regarding Bong Joon Hos decision in working with Netflix.
