[Spoiler] "Ruler: Master of the Mask" Kim So-hyun VS Yoon So-hee's power struggle

Kim So-hyun and Yoon So-hee went through a power struggle.

On the latest episode of the MBC drama "Ruler: Master of the Mask", Mae-chang (Lee Chae-young) offered Han Ga-eun (Kim So-hyun) poison and passed out after drinking it.

False king Lee Seon (L) worried about her and took care of her. Prince Lee Seon (Yoo Seung-ho) sneaked in to see Ga-eun and cried over her. The Prince knew that the Queen (Kim Seon-yeong) was behind this. Kim Hwa-goon (Yoon So-hee) also knew that the Queen did this to get chosen as queen and spoke to the Pyeonsu.

Ruler: Master of the Mask Eps. 29-32, Power Moves

I’ve been saying this for a couple weeks now  Ruler: Master of the Mask is definitely heading towards its finale. After last week’s insistence on perpetuating the love triangle, I was seriously doubting this show, but now I am fully invested once again. Our characters have gotten rid of all pretenses of playing nice and are finally taking some decisive action against each other. We even managed to address a few plot points that have been sitting quietly in the background waiting to be acknowledged. All in all, we’ve had a strong batch of episodes this week, with lots of action and twists, and it’s got me excited for how the end will turn out.

Ruler: Master of the Mask Eps. 33-36, For Love or Power

This week’s episodes of Ruler: Master of the Mask were filled with everything the drama has promised from the beginning. There’s action, betrayal, drama, and even a little comedy. The tension is steadily increasing and the dramatic conclusion is on the horizon, but we still managed to be surprised by the actions of the characters we have been following for 9 weeks. We see interactions happen this week and they’re all in the name of love and power, which is the overarching theme of the drama.

[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Ruler: Master of the Mask" Episodes 11-12

The opening swordfight gives the impression that "Ruler: Master of the Mask" has decided to be an action swashbuckler about Prince Seon fighting for justice against a corrupt regime. Instead, we get a story arc about international trade with Japan. When I saw that Prince Seon had a whole gang of confederates I was sure he was going to, I don't know, steal the tax money or something. But no, he just approaches Hwa-goon to ask for a loan.

That's what Hwa-goon has been up to the last five years. She's a merchant now. It's unclear whether she still works with Dae-mok. My guess is not, because her idea to become the Queen is a lot more viable now that Prince Seon has been replaced by a compliant puppet. Mostly. The other Seon has a brief angry scene where he gets morally indignant about legislation that hits a little close to home.
