One thing is certain: we wont air it if we think the quality isnt good enough. He further commented, We were very concerned for the CG. Ko Young-wook to wear ankle monitor

Ko Young-wook to wear ankle monitor

Ko Young-wook, 37, a former member of the 1990s pop band Roora indicted for sexually assaulting several teenage girls, became the first celebrity ordered to wear an electronic anklet tracking device, which is compulsory for serious sex offenders.

The Seoul Western District Court, headed by Judge Seong Ji-ho, sentenced Ko to five years in prison and to wear the anklet, which monitors a sex offender's whereabouts 24 hours a day via GPS, for 10 years.

The court also decided to make public Ko's personal information, including his current address and details of the charge on the government's sex offender registry (www.sexoffender.go.kr) for the next seven years.

The 37-year-old Ko was accused of raping and sexually harassing three teenage girls in four separate occasions at his home in Hannam-dong, central Seoul, and in his car from July 2010 to December last year. "He clearly used his social position as a celebrity who appears on many popular entertainment programs in order to attract teenagers who are too young to properly judge what is correct", the court said. Go Young Wook sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of electronic anklet wear

Go Young Wook sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of electronic anklet wear

The final hearing was held for Go Young Wook, who has now received his sentence.

If you recall, the celebrity was previously charged with engaging in sexual acts with a minor and sexual assault. In addition to jail time, the prosecution had demanded that an electronic anklet be placed earlier on in the case. An electronic anklet can monitor the whereabouts of the person which it is attached to, making it a desirable object to use with suspects that need to be watched under close scrutiny.

The prosecution has gotten their way as Go Young Wook has been sentenced to 5 years in prison and 10 years of electronic anklet wear after the court found him guilty of all his charges.

Even if there was no violence or threat involved in the sexual acts and oral sex with minors, it can still be recognized as coercion and force, the judge said as he explained the guilty verdicts.

He continued, In the process of being investigated back in December of last year for the same type of charges, he sexually molested a minor again. He has used his celebrity status to commit acts of crime and has shown no signs of reflecting by instead putting on the blame on the victims.

The court also stated, We looked to see if there is a risk of the defendant repeating the crime. The defendant committed crimes against minors under the age of 19. Two of those victims are only 13 years old. In addition, between 2010 to 2012, he has committed sexual assault a total of 5 times, reasoning that with his acts being repeated over the years, and Go Young Wook utilizing similar tactics each time to commit the acts, there is enough reason for including the electronic anklet in the sentencing.

Go Young Wooks lawyers have not yet revealed whether they will be appealing the sentence.
