'Taxi Driver' tops box office, breaks records set by hit films 'Veteran' and 'Assassination' in 3 days

New film 'Taxi Driver' starring Song Kang Ho, Yoo Hae Jin, and Ryu Joon Yeol is dominating the box office. 

According to KOFIC (Korean Film Council), 'Taxi Driver' released in theaters on August 2 surpassed 1 million moviegoers on the second day of release and 2 million on the third day. As of August 4 7:30 pm KST, 'Taxi Driver' has attracted a total of 2,001,482 moviegoers.

BTS Breaks Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, One Direction's Records With 22 Weeks On Billboard Chart

With 22 weeks on top of the Billboard charts, K-pop superstars BTS has finally overtaken Miley Cyrus and Rihanna's records on top of the charts. This is a milestone achievement for the K-pop group which has recently concluded their sold out US leg of their "Wings" World Tour.

According to a report by SBS Pop Asia, with 22 weeks on the Billboard charts, BTS now ranks third in the lists of artists who have the longest stay on the charts. They come next only to Taylor Swift who maintained her position on the Billboard Top 50 charts at 28 weeks. However, they are still a long way to go before beating the record set by Justin Bieber at 161 weeks.

BTS has broken previous records.

Their upcoming mini album 'Love Yourself: Her' has surpassed over 1,051,546 copies as of August 31st, not even including international sales. This is 350,000 more copies than their the preorders for their previous album 'Wings: You Never Walk Alone', which had about 700,000 copies sold.

This is a record for not just the boys, but also K-pop in general, as no other groups have surpassed a million copies just in pre-orders.

The group’s mini album “Love Yourself: Her” featuring the title track “DNA” came out on September 18 at 6 p.m. KST. Since that time, the mini album has taken the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Albums charts in 73 regions! This is the highest number ever for a K-pop artist.
